Letterrack
My awesome husband made me this key hook and letter rack after I showed him a similar one I liked on Not on the Highstreet.

Upcycled Floor Lamp

Lamp Before
|
I found this floor lamp in my local charity shop and it was exactly what I wanted for my living room, bar a few changes I thought I could easily make lol.
Firstly, I hated the colour of the varnished wood, so I began the time consuming task of sanding off all the dark varnish; yea, I know I should of used a paint stripper, but I obviously lost my mind.

So after about 10 sheets of sandpaper and a lot of frustration I ended up with a beautiful, red mahogany wood turned pole :)
I also loved the shape of the lamp shade, but hated the material. At the minute the shades stripped down to its fire proof layer, but I haven't found the right material to recover it with yet, so it's still a work in progress and this plain shade is holding its place.
I also discovered the light bulb holder was broken and I replaced it with a brass one.

Upcycled Red Sofa Bed
We inherited this sofa bed from my husband's parents who wanted to throw it out. They had got it from an auction years ago and had already recovered it once.

After a recover and some new pillows (one of my first sewing machine projects), it's like new. Although some of the retro fabric I found hidden on it suggests it was originally made in the 1970s.

Add some hand sewed curtains to match the pillows (never again will I hand sew curtains, it took ages and I was only introduced to the sewing machine after I had finished)
And recycle a broken guitar as wall art, it doesn't sound good, but looks great!
Upcycled Office Furniture
Small filling cabinet that I bought from a local charity shop for all our important documents. It was very boring and grey.

After a clean and some black spray paint

This is all the parts of an old and ripped faux leather desk, again from a charity shop. I got this table because I wanted the large work top for my craft room.

After some sanding, white paint and a new red faux leather top I now have a perfect and inviting table for crafting and more upcycling projects :)
